Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students celebrate their individuality and work to build a strong community of learners. Students are allowed a voice in the classroom which enriches their education by building critical thinking, problem-solving, and higher-level thinking skills.

My students are energetic and enthusiastic when they take the lead in classroom instruction.

Approximately three-quarters of the students in our elementary school receive free or reduced-price lunch. Around twenty percent of the students in our district are from military families. The majority of our students are low income and high risk. However, what they lack in income they make up for in heart and spirit. They enjoy math, science, problem solving, and journaling about their experiences.

My students love Math. Any shape or form they love it! We had speed multiplication drills using the Lattice method and they didn't want to stop! Even the one who's Dad came early to pick him up!!

My Project

We went to a math conference today and had a hands-on application with centers. After 20 minutes the principal said-"We have to have these!"

I am requesting the entire Macy Cook Math Center Tile Packet collection.

We were literally answering questions, with other questions that had the answers. These center stations go beyond and answer basic number/number sense thinking. They have to apply logic, reasoning and sometimes work with a partner. Suduko style math problems and domino math are no problem and call all be used with these tile packets. My favorite was the 100s chart that utilized vocabulary words to get a numerical answer to color in a number or groups of numbers. The best part is that each pack has cards that range from easy to difficult. Talk about differentiation in one packet!
