My Project

Hi! Thank you so much for visiting my project. My Special Education Resource Room is in need of new brain games that develop executive functioning skills, logical reasoning, and teamwork. Above all, these games are fun and are used daily during break times once their work is completed! As a teacher, I have learned to never underestimate the power of play-based learning. Students in special education often face unique challenges that can make it difficult to learn essential skills in math and reading. In order to make progress in these areas, students need to develop executive functioning skills such as planning, working memory, impulse control, flexibility, perseverece, and many more. My students learn in unique ways, and playing games that promote a variety of skills has been extremely effective in helping my students make great progress across all academic areas!

These games spark so many fun "lightbulb moments" when students make unexpected connections, work together to try new strategies, and finally discover creative solutions!

We are requesting games where students can laugh, collarborate, and develop executive functioning skills in a fun way. For example, Spot it! helps working memory by having students hold visual information while searching for matches between 2 cards. Bananagrams supports planning, organization, perseverence, and flexible thinking skills as students effectiently arrange their letters (and make adjustments as new tiles are added!). Logic puzzles such as Stixx or Scramboozle require sustained attention, emotional regulation, and collaboration as students use trial and error and turn taking to achieve their goal.
