This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school. We have a very diverse campus, with students from all different backgrounds. Our campus is Pre-K through 5th with duel language and special education programs. Our students were heavy impacted my Hurricane Harvey but didn't let that get them down.
"Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way." - George Evans
Every students deserves to learn in safe and happy environment that can best meet their needs.
My Project
This magnetic strip system will allow teacher to keep their doors locked at all times while easily letting students and staff travel between classrooms.
If a lock down ever occurs, all the teachers would need to do is slide the magnet out of place.
It allows the teacher the time needed to try to make sure students are safe, instead of trying to lock the door as fast as possible and risk themselves and their students' safety. The hope is this system will never be needed, but with current events it is better to be prepared and safe than to waste time trying to get your door locked and closed.
