My Students

Our grade level is departmentalized so I teach Language Arts and Social Studies twice daily reaching over 40 kids each day. My ELA and Social Studies classroom is full of energetic, motivated, and outgoing third graders. I greet them each and every morning at the door with the handshake to make sure the day starts out right.

We are located in a Northwest suburb of Dallas, Texas and are all about making sure our learning is engaging, exciting, and relevant.

In order to accomplish this, I look to have lots of fun tools available and at the ready.

My Project

A digital assistant (Google Home) would be useful in our classroom in so many ways. For example, when I am working with a small group, a smart speaker can be used with the other students to answer questions like, "How do you spell," or "What is the capital of Florida?"

By integrating a digital assistant into the classroom, students will become more adept at asking questions.

A Google Home can help enhance thought-provoking activities such as Mystery Animal to help kids with critical thinking and get more comfortable with inferencing skills.

This digital assistant would also be helpful with some simple classroom management issues such as setting a timer for time management, playing music for optimal learning conditions, and choosing a random number for active engagement.

There's no doubt about it, kids love technology. And this would be a fun new way for me to incorporate more technology into our classroom. I appreciate your consideration in funding this very helpful resource!
