Lizards, Technology, and Brains! Oh My! A Science Library!
My students need books to enhance their reading skills in English and science. I want to give them a wide range of books to read! They also need supplies to express themselves!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am starting my first year of teaching in the fall. My students all live in the Belmont-Cragin Neighborhood in Chicago. 95% of my students are Latin, and most of them speak Spanish at home. It is therefore very important for my students have materials to express themselves through art, and words, but they don't always have the resources to do this.
My students have the imagination and drive to succeed at anything they try!
I want them to to be able to express themselves in every way I know they are capable of. They are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
My students need to practice their English skills through reading. The books on my list will help students begin to explore their curiosity through science literature. Students will be reading from these books every day, as we work on reading informational texts. Students will also engage in conversations with one another, summarizing what they have learned. These books will be part of their inquiry projects throughout the year.
A robust science library will allow students to explore their favorite science topics and expand their curiosity.
They will also use the supplies to help explain what they are reading. They will be able color, and draw concepts they don't have all the words to express. Lastly, the dictionaries will give them words they want to know, but don't have yet.
