The purpose of this project is to request printer ink and poster supplies. To provide fodder for exam essays, my students delve into significant and historical events that helped to shape our society as we know it today. When world events can be utilized in our education, it allows students to decide how they can use information.
Through group and individual projects, students create powerful displays of their understanding using images and infographs capturing their significance.
From D-Day to Y2K, to the 119 mentions in Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" lyrics to what's happening in the world today, my students use all of this to build on their knowledge and become better global citizens too!
Students in high school are rarely given projects where they are encouraged to be creative. When my students can take current events and then discuss, argue, ask, and decide how to use this information, it is exactly what makes their learning a unique, and creative experience.
