This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like at the start of a new school year? My students need materials to make their fifth grade year the best year ever! I want to make sure that they always remember the fun new ways they learned challenging yet interesting concepts.
My elementary students are a great bunch fifth graders!
They are eager to learn and like to try new things. They enjoy reading novels such as "The Cricket in Times Square" and "Maniac McGee." My students are able to understand historical moments better through the use of books. We then integrate technology into the classroom and create projects using software programs such as PhotoStory to interview characters from the book. They are able to take what they learn in class and turn it into something they never thought they could do. They are so creative and inquisitive and would benefit greatly from any contributions.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of Math, Reading, and Science learning materials for my students--nonfiction and fiction books for our daily “Book Clubs,” Math games for their independent math time, and materials to use for Science experiments. I am also requesting materials that will help my students develop logical reasoning skills. They like to play games, so games like Sudoku challenge them and teach them mathematical concepts at the same time. For the Math and Language Arts computer games that I am requesting, I have also requested headphone splitter cables. My students can play games against each other on the computer. The headphone splitters will allow both students to listen to the game and not interrupt other students. Please help my students get the materials they need to make their fifth grade experience a fun and successful year!
All of the resources will make learning so much more enjoyable for my students.
I never want any child to feel like they can't read or understand mathematical concepts. Many of these resources allow for my students to take control of their own learning. Please help my fifth graders enhance their skills and develop a much more in-depth love for learning!
