My students need 10 gallon aquarium ensemble tank, 1 sand aquarium gravel, and 6 - 10 gallon aquariums to observe and care for living things.
This project expired on February 26, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
What child doesn't love to look at an aquarium? There is so much to observe and learn about. It is also relaxing and engaging.
I have 22 boys out of 31 students this year.
This class is very smart and needs to be challenged. They love outdoors. We live in an area that is surrounded by mountains. Our school is in a lower middle class neighborhood. We are a new school that is trying to build up their supplies.
The third grade science curriculum includes living/non living things. Small scale environments are part of this unit. The 10 gallon aquarium, gravel, and ensemble aquarium would be set up in our room and compared to a life size environment. The students will learn about the living and non living things in the aquarium and how they affect each other. The class will be taught what living things need to survive and they will learn how to care for the animals in the aquarium.
Students can read about living things and see pictures of them, but having real living things to observe and care for will impact them in such a greater way.
Students will be able to observe the life cycle of aquarium life and will learn what is needed to help the animals survive.
