Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Throughout the year students engage in multiple projects, independent work, and testing- state testing included. We have Chromebooks that are accessible to students and only 2 copies for the entire school. Our classroom can be a noisy place full of learning. With multiple groups taking place simultaneously, it can be difficult to stay focused. But what if there was a way for students to have their personalized learning environment? Headphones can provide a way to block out those distractions and focus on the task at hand. Additionally, We are privileged enough to have 1:1 devices for each student. However, our copier is limited to prints in black and white. Research shows that color increases a reader's attention span and recall by 82%, increases the clarity of text by up to 40%, and reading speed by up to 35%. Therefore, vibrant print documents can help students learn. With the necessary tool, we can hit the ground learning with a new, focused, independent approach full of color!
