Living a Readerly Life

My Project

I work at a school that emphasizes the importance of reading every day. We help students find the books they want to read. Although every room has a classroom library, our school does not have a library. So we work hard at keeping the classroom libraries stocked to the best of our ability.

Independent reading helps me positively influence a student’s relationship with books.

If I can match a student with just the right book, I can change the way that student feels about reading. I recommend books to readers through a quick “book talk.” I also confer with readers to help them set goals and help them to read a “readerly life,” one where reading is a pleasure. Help me by sending us new titles to notice my students.
