This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"That was amazing!" Is a constant quote in my classroom. The students come alive in this elementary science classroom. Yes, you read that correctly, elementary science classroom. This is one of a very small group (2) of Elementary science classrooms in our district.

Teaching STEM to English language learners opens up a whole new world of vocabulary and opportunities to talk about what is exciting them.

I serve 600 + kids in a week. Most of these children are on free and reduced lunch and breakfast.

The students come eager to learn and love hands on experiences. I am always looking for new ways to add STEM ideas across the grade levels.

My Project

When we invite the gecko into our classroom will allow students to see how to take care of a pet. Students will have many opportunities to feed and water the gecko.

My students will have the opportunity to observe metamorphosis.

With the caterpillars watching change over time becomes an adventure instead of a chore. Students will be looking forward to journaling and talking about the changes.

Allowing the mantis to hatch into our classroom will allow the students to watch the tiny bugs change and grow into something they can look for in their own backyards. encouraging some outdoor activity.
