My Project
I am in my first year of teaching! I am teaching English Language Arts to 4-6 graders. Having never taught before, I entered an empty classroom that needed a little touch of personality. Additionally, we just started a new reading program so I would love to use materials from Teachers Pay Teachers to both add some interest to my room all the while providing anchor chart information to my students. Let me tell you a little bit about my students...Many students in this area come from primarily low-income homes. All students receive free or reduced lunches. Many live in homes where their parents did not attend college. When talking with these students, some seem to have resigned themselves to living in our town and working in the fields, as their parents do. Very few have hopes of going to college and making a better life for themselves. I would love for my students to succeed in whatever their dreams may be, either here or in fascinating distant places. I want to prepare them for following those dreams!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
