My Students

Please help my students have fun while learning to read and write.

Kindergartners are very lively, inquisitive children, who generally love to touch and explore their surroundings.

This fall, I will have the pleasure of getting to know and teach a new group of students at this wonderful stage. The children learn best by "doing," and it is also important to keep their interest with various activities and methods of presentation through out the day.

My Project

I would like to provide my students with attractive literacy learning centers and activities. Items such as magnetic picture and letter tiles as well as snap cube rods will be used in various centers to develop the isolation and discrimination of beginning, middle, ending and rhyming sounds. Learning centers using letter cards and word "dice" will help students become familiar with high frequency words. Additional fun items, such as: stamps and ink pads, dry erase markers and a riddle box will be used to reinforce letter recognition, letter formation, word families and CVC words (e.g.: hug, top). These items all come in a variety of shapes and colors that children find appealing.

As the world around us changes, it is important that teaching methods change with the times.
