Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I lead a weekly group called "Parent-Child Tot Time" that meets at our homeschool library to sing, read, play, craft and connect with each other for an afternoon. Mammas and Papas of these 12 little ones are thankful to have an excuse to get out and beat the Alaskan winter blues in our rural and remote community.

As this is the first year offering a Tot-Time within our homeschool program, we lack much of the pre-school classroom essentials.

Child friendly rugs would not only liven up our library turn into classroom space, but also would give parents and children a clear, consistent place to gather around. In our limited space the rugs will help define play areas from whole group story and circle time.

These little learners love their story time and I would love to enhance their imaginations, language, and pre-reading skills with classic flannel board stories. I know they'll enjoy listening as well as retelling these classic stories.
