In our high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. In response to the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with fun and meaningful learning experiences within my classroom.
My students love to move, read, and learn.
I work in a high poverty area in South Carolina where many students live in single parent households and every student at my school and within our district receives a free breakfast and lunch. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life. When they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential for growth while they are with me. This project will help give my students the supplies and resources they need to become more successful within the classroom. I try to have a positive influence in their lives at school to help inspire and encourage them to become lifelong learners. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I hope to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic success.
My students love to learn, and these materials will help make learning more fun. First graders need an environment conducive for learning. These materials will help engage my students in daily exercises that support our curriculum and help support the overall learning and engagement in my classroom. The puzzles will be used to make words and read words. The privacy folders will be used to promote independent work. The whisper phones will help the students build reading fluency. The materials requested will be used daily during center time. These materials will enrich my students' learning by reinforcing concepts learned in class and promote independent thinking as well as collaboration among peers. The students will be able to build their reading fluency and motivate students to become better readers and more independent learners. These materials will make learning fun and help create more memoriable learning experiences for them!
