My Students
Have you ever been to a high school performance and witnessed incredibly talented students all working as hard as they can towards a common goal? This is what concerts look like at our high school - but we're always trying to raise the bar and provide better experiences for our students.
My students come from all walks of life and dedicate themselves to the arts for hundreds of different reasons.
They join choir to sing, or to be with like minded friends. They join theater to act, or to learn out to run a light board. They take a painting class to hone their art skills, or just to try something new that they've never experienced. No matter the reason that a student at our school gets involved in the arts, I believe that they should have the best possible resources to explore their creativity.
As a culminating project and celebration of the arts we put on a winter production that is unlike any other. It is a celebration of all performing and visual arts. The show involves band, choir, dance, theater, painting, photography, film, sculpture, poetry and more. There are live performances, student run art galleries and more. This event is a statement of the importance of the arts in public education and these microphones are a huge step to improving the event.
My Project
These hanging condenser microphones are one of the first steps to truly modernizing our auditorium and providing quality sound reinforcement for our productions. After nearly every concert, audience members comment on how great the music was and how impressed they were by the dedication of the students - but also how the sound system could have been better. These microphones will be used at every choir concert, band concert, community concert and during musicals and plays. In addition to enhancing the performance aspect of my student's learning, we have students who are enrolled in an Audio Engineering class that will benefit from working with them. The Audio Engineering students, who design and run sound for all of the concerts/musicals, will have a more authentic learning experience by using gear that is used in the professional world. These students will learn advanced microphone placement techniques and live sound reinforcement strategies.
By donating to this project you will be contributing to a legacy of performing arts productions in our community.
These microphones will be used for decades on countless concerts, musicals, plays and more. You will be responsible for enhancing the experience of performance art of literally thousands of students and community members. On behalf of my students - both current and future - thank you so much for your contribution!
