This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Q-Lab is used to help edit and design music and sound effects for any theatrical production. By having an Apple Macintosh product in class, students will gain first hand experience in programming sound design on Q-Lab for live theater. The goal of having a MacBook is for students to begin getting practice designing sound effects for the school musicals and using the program to run school assemblies. For example, in this year’s school musical, “Peter Pan Jr”, the role of Tinkerbell is played by a light and all of her lines are heard through the chime of a bell.
Using Q-Lab students will design an effect that accurately portrays Tinkerbell’s responses without using words.
They will also use the software to make sure the sounds play at the correct time without worry of any delays within the track or program itself. Students will begin to understand how to use theatrical software inside the classroom. Additionally, students will learn to use Q-Lab to help run school wide assemblies and other school performances. Students will also learn how to create playlists for many different school functions. Having a MacBook and using this program will also help Theatre students prepare for the future as this is a software used by other schools in the district. By having this Macintosh only software students will get hands-on experience with sound design and be more creative with their sound design ideas which can then be implemented into all of our school performances.
