Live Animal STEM Habitats!

My Students

My second-grade students embrace life. I love to give them opportunities to enhance their learning.

They still have the wonder and curiosity that makes teaching them such a pleasure, but they are beginning to comprehend and empathize on a much deeper level.

They grow each day and need lots of time to socialize and dialog with peers to understand the concepts being taught. Great books will reinforce what they are learning.

My Project

Last year, I was able to hatch chicks in my classroom. It was an AMAZING, life-changing experience for my students. However, I had to borrow all the supplies to create this experience for my students.

I love to watch the wonder on an 8-year olds face as he/she watches a little chick hatch its way into the world.

My students will learn the responsibility of caring for eggs and chicks and understand how a life cycle (2nd-grade science core) works with first-hand experience.

I have also included a Back to Roots fish tank that will help teach my students about the reciprocity between plants and animals.
