This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When I hear "Ms. Luan can we have some leaves (spinach)" or "Ms. Luan can we help in the garden", my heart melts. My students have a garden that we work in and many times our younger students (kinder-2nd) will be going to for a break. Instead of taking their break on the playground, they want to come and help in the garden. Regardless of whether it is pulling weeds, moving dirt to plant, or helping in watering. They all want to help.
These students are learning at a young age, that they are able to plant and raise food they can eat.
It would be so very wonderful if they had a section of their own to work in and plant. These raised beds will help them have a place of their own where they can plant and produce.
