The students of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District are a diverse group of learners. While they are digital natives and born into a world full of technology, they still need the computer science training and opportunity to create, explore and engage with technology. Currently there are limited resources at individual schools for teachers to access.
Our district Innovation Centers will provide teachers and students with the opportunity to check out and explore STEAM resources and activities.
Students will get hands-on experience and time to tinker around. Our hope is that these Innovation Centers will provide a variety of choices to help teachers integrate more computer science exploration and education into many different aspects of their curriculum.
My Project
The creation of an Innovation Center for students in our district will provide opportunities for teachers to use STEM materials in their classrooms and to share those items with others in the district. These LittleBits classroom sets will be used to create structures that teach important STEM concepts while investigating the laws of physics through exploration. For artists and designers to use electronics in their creative process promotes discussion and inquiry, two important components of 21st century learning environments.
These materials will spur creative thought and will use engineering principles to engage learners in solving problems and discovering the possibilities of future design challenges.
