Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Can we build it, yes we can." Although this came from a cartoon character my students like to ask this all the time.
Imagine being accepted to a Gifted and Talented school where there are more projects then you are used to and students that are on the same level as you.
My students truly find themselves and what makes them unique while in our academy. Most of my students do not have computers at home, which means students need to learn about technology and resources in the classroom. Students learn how to work collaboratively with each other through online resources, but are also provided some opportunities to have fun with technology.
My Project
My students want to build everything and learn it all. Even though I can help them wire a circuit, the students should be able to read a circuit drawing and do this by themselves if they are interested in electronics. I want them to be able to create their own circuits so they can enter the InfyMaker Awards. It is important that they have the ability and resources to build what ever they would like. It is all about their own creativity with the right tools.
Using the Little Bit kits, students are able to learn how to read basic electronic symbols and understand base components. Many adults can not do this in today's society, so being able to do this would give my students a leg up when they apply for college and career programs in engineering or anything they choose. Reading someone else's diagrams and working with their parts is great, but what happens when students what to be more unique?
Helping students learn about the electronics will open up new ideas for them to enter into the InfyMaker Awards.
Since competition is great for Gifted and Talented students a little bit of material will go along way with their own creativity.
