The materials I am requesting for my students will allow them to see the unseen. I teach high school Biology and Ecology, both of these classes learn about small organisms in order to see the big picture of life around them.
Students learn so much better when they can see a concept come to life!
Nutrient agar is fantastic for bacterial growth; my students can study bacterial growth by studying themselves! My students can take a sterile swab of a part of their body that is exposed to the environment around them and see the tiny world that grows from what they have living on themselves.
Students in high school rarely get the chance to see and participate in microbiology projects. These materials will allow my student the ability to do so. The school I teach at could never offer my students this ability because of the cost, but you can.
