My Students
I teach an extremely diverse and dynamic group of young children with autism and/or developmental delays.
Despite their many challenges, my students come to school each day eager to get started.
More often, my students keep me on schedule and make sure their peers are ready too.
As a teacher, I am extremely fortunate to have learners that truly love and thrive from coming to school. They are always willing to try something silly and make each day fun. This is what keeps me coming back year after year.
My Project
Often, my students require alternate seating, unique materials and different ways to access daily activities and lessons.
Adding a variety of materials to my classroom will help create equity for my learners.
The little things, t-stools, a vertical writing surface, and hands-on materials will create a big impact on my learners. For these visual learners, items such as the large timers, will help increase their independence and ability to complete their daily schedule.
Classroom items were carefully selected to address developmental delays while considering student interest and needs. Finding age appropriate materials that meet their cognitive needs is always a challenge. Thank you for supporting our unique students and making a difference in their lives.
