Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students live by the C.A.R.E.S. core values - Caring, Appreciative, Responsible, Empathetic and Steadfast. All of our students show grit and determination even in the face of uncertainty. Everyday our children show up and we do our best to make a difference. We act as role models reminding them that it’s never, “I can’t.” It’s, “I can’t do that YET.” This is so true in reading especially in the Integrated General Education/Special Education classroom.

The children weren't always enthusiastic to read online therefore this year we want to make sure we have even more library choices for them to read!

My Project

An integrated classroom is helpful to students with special needs. This year our emerging readers really need more resources in the library to make significant progress and IT CAN BE DONE -even in a socially distant classroom!

Students will work in small groups, and have individualized instruction but we will need additional books in our classroom library to make that happen.

The children have requested more nonfiction books for small group reading and we have a specially tailored nonfiction unit coming up where resources that have been requested will come in handy. Please consider helping my 5th grade team make significant progress this school year with updated nonfiction and fiction texts!
