This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of my students participate in the free lunch program. My goal is to provide my students with a safe place to collaborate and express their emotions in a safe and healthy environment.

Little bodies with big emotions.

These sweet scholars are full of emotions and need support naming, recognizing, practicing, and exercising their social and emotional skill sets in a safe and comfortable environment. The few copies I've purchased for my students belonging to this series has been well loved and are in need of replacing. This books will help me to help my students help themselves as they continue go grow through huge developmental leaps.

During our morning meetings we would introduce a skill or emotion of the week. These texts are ideal for a SEL literacy connection. Because these characters are easy to draw, it's idea if students need to express themselves via art. Additionally, referencing these books and characters could help students as they work through personal or peer conflicts. We already reference them daily, this would add to our strategies and tools!
