My Project

When was the last time you really went exploring? For my Pre-K students, every day is an opportunity to find and learn about something new. Their curious, inquisitive nature is what led me to realize that our classroom is missing a very important tool that nearly all scientists will use in their careers: a microscope!

On behalf of my four-year-old friends, I am kindly requesting the AmScope IQCrew, which I consider to be the Goldilocks of microscopes for this age level: not too hard to use, not too oversimplified - this microscope is just right.

It has the magnification capability of a more sophisticated system but is as easy to use as a Viewmaster. Instead of only using slides, the children can take different specimens (like insects, plants, crystals), place them directly on the microscope stage, and get to zooming without too much adult supervision. Because there is a large digital screen display, there will be no need to fight over the eyepiece so multiple children can use this microscope together as a small group activity. To make it even more fun and engaging, I am requesting a few supplemental materials that we will use in conjunction with the microscope like a fossil kit, a set of geodes, and some mini-scopes we can take outside to continue the fun at recess.

From a young child's perspective, everything around them is big (except themselves, of course). Please consider helping the students in my classroom take an incredibly closer look at the big and little things in their environment with this microscope. Thank you for your consideration!
