This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are awesome first graders who are eager to learn. They are full of wonder and questions. They love hands on activities that require them to think outside of the box. They come to school each day ready to face new challenges.

We are located in a small rural community in the low country of South Carolina.

Many of my students come from single parent families who struggle financially. School is a sanctuary to learn and grow without pressure or judgment.

My Project

Our school is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Magnet school. It is my wish to teach all subjects through hands on experiences. These STEM kits will allow my students to build, create and experiment by using their imagination all while learning. The students will learn social skills, how to work as a team, and most importantly how to build relationships. These are all lifelong skills.

These activities will allow me to change projects out frequently and enhance the learning in my classroom.

I want to give my students a safe place to grow both socially and academically.
