My Students
My classroom is a specialized program for preschool-age children with severe sensory and communication deficits. The students require various means of presentation to be able to succeed; therefore, instruction is done with a multi-modal approach and usually in a small group or one-on-one instruction.
Most of the students are virtually non-verbal; those with verbal skills are extremely limited in scope, mostly scripted or echoic.
My Project
Story time for preschool students is critical for reading development. I am excited to increase our class library with new books I have requested that are age appropriate for my special education preschool students.
Offering books of high interest increases student participation, including books and materials that are visually stimulating.
I have included many of my favorites that support opportunities for the students to share information such as their favorite ice cream, color, and activity.
Reading is a fundamental skill that will support each student's ability to grow throughout their educational journey and throughout their lives, it is important to include reading activities daily.
