This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a struggling, high needs, urban neighborhood in New York City. Our school is a warm, nurturing environment, and the children enjoy coming to school. I am currently teaching 18 lovable preschoolers who are curious, funny, loving, and eager to learn. The parents of our students are working hard to make a better life for their families and desire a stellar education for their children.
My little ones are curious, imaginative, loving, creative, honest, and cute.
The community is diverse and considerably lower income. The children I teach are all eager to learn and are enthusiastic. My classroom is comprised of children who are learning English and also with children who have different abilities.
My Project
I am in need of art materials for my young children to create great designs, drawings, paintings and craft projects. I want to make sure I have the mediums to give my young students an amazing year. I would even have enough supplies for next year's class as well. I am requesting crayons, model magic, fabric mosaics, felt shapes and sensory collage materials for different projects throughout the year. I would love to have the materials in order to peak my students curiosity about exploring the world around them. They would be free to use their imagination and the inner artistic ability that does exist in every child would come to fruition. Please make this artistic journey possible.
I absolutely love to see the sense of accomplishment and joy when a young child completes an original, creative art project.
They are so proud! Your donation would enable my young students to create wonderful works of art. Children need to explore sensory materials as it strengthens their fine motor skills. Their artwork also gives them confidence as it reflects their experiences and ideas. An education in the arts also ensures an enriched cultural opportunity, stronger analytical skills and higher achievement in other subject areas. They will learn to design, invent and problem solve. Lastly, these materials will help reinforce the skills taught in the classroom.
