I work in a Head Start Pre-K classroom with 14 amazing children. Almost all of our students are from low-income households, with many living in or near poverty.
Our students come to school with a strong desire to learn.
We are always coming up with new ways to keep them engaged in what we are teaching and strive to make learning a fun experience. We want each child to go home with a sense of accomplishment each and every day.
Choice time is our students' favorite time of the school day. Our classroom consists of fourteen three-year-olds, many of which have not participated in other learning experiences. The beginning of the school year is chock full of lessons on how to share and play nicely together.
It is our hope that our students will grasp the idea of sharing quickly and enjoy playing together.
With toys like Little People play sets, such as the play house, the school, and the animal farm, more than one child can play at the same time. Not only are they having fun, they are learning at the same time.
The car ramp will encourage children to share and begin to develop patience. Having a variety of cars to use on the ramp will allow more than one child to play.
