Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a self contained special education preschool classroom. Our classroom specializes in providing academic, communication, and social supports. Our students look forward to circle time, where they are engaged in their favorite books on CD. We would like to provide a comforting, developmentally appropriate environment to increase early literacy skills.

Reading closes the literacy gap.

Help us support our special needs students by providing a welcoming classroom for literacy. Our students enjoy books on CD and completing story boards. Each and every student has their own needs, and we create individualized materials daily to support them.

My Project

As a special education classroom, our students have different sensory needs. We like to provide as much as we can to help our students feel comforted during story time. Sitting on soft, comforting materials or holding something to addresses their sensory needs.

We address all different abilities and needs in our classroom.

Each and every lesson targets different goals. We design many different materials for our students based on story books and vocabulary. This project will help us create lessons for our students by being able to print out specific vocabulary terms.

For example, our students enjoy felt board activities by following along with the story and matching the pictures. Using the printer, we create materials for each lesson that helps every student become involved in a story. With our nonverbal students, this enhances their receptive language by letting us know they understand vocabulary by matching and pointing.

By printing out vocabulary pictures, we help students express their needs. Please help us give our nonverbal and students who have trouble speaking a chance to express themselves.
