Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher in a high-poverty school district in New Jersey. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the obstacles that my students face, I want to provide my students all of the materials needed to succeed.
I have twenty-two excited and eager students.
The students in kindergarten love to learn and look forward to coming to school each day. For many of these students, this is the only stable and safe place that they have.
My Project
My Kindergarten students eat lunch at 10:50 in the morning! They are hungry in the afternoon, but most of my students do not have healthy foods that they can bring to school for snack time. If I can provide a healthy snack for each child in my class, it will give them energy to learn and grow throughout the afternoon in the classroom. This is a great way for them to begin to eat more healthy foods and learn that there are a variety of healthy items to choose from when selecting a snack.
