My Students

My students love to read, and they love to play. They are an ethnically and socially diverse group of students. They are typical five- and six-year-olds who are active learners and are excited to come to school!

We know that students need to be engaged and excited about learning, and we don't want them to lose interest in school.

It is my goal as an elementary teacher to create memories and instill a love of learning in my students, building the foundation for future learning as my students progress through their school journeys.

My students are excited about school, and they love our little learning community. They are creative thinkers and love to learn through play. Though the standards and expectations for early childhood have increased, we still make sure that we have fun while learning.

My Project

Picture this-- Several students gathered at the reading rug, reading engaging books with each other. They are giggling at the silly characters, noticing details in the illustrations, and showing each other their favorite parts of their books. But most importantly, they are learning to love reading! And, they are truly reading, because they have books that are just right for beginning readers.

My students need leveled books, both fiction and nonfiction, that will engage them and draw them into the book.

They need to learn to love reading. Learning to love books in kindergarten can change a student's attitude and impact their future success in school. Books should not be boring or completely predictable. Students should be excited about what they are reading and want to share this excitement with their peers.
