This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a low income, high-poverty part of the city, where they need opportunities to succeed. Young children need to start their learning journey early.

I teach at a Title I school in Virginia, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Since I teach in a low income, high-poverty part of the city I am just really concerned that my little learners may get overlooked and that parents might not have the time to spend on their little one versus their children in higher grade levels. The district did provide learning packets for my little ones, however, in order to to the packet they need someone to read it with them. The materials I am requesting will allow them to learn and grow academically and independently.

My Project

I teach very little learners and I want them to be able to continue their Pre-K journey at home.

Very young children learn best when they have hands on materials that they can touch and manipulate.

I have already posted a project for some books and dry erase boards. Unfortunately, I did not request a bag for them to keep their materials in. So I am requesting drawstring bags for them so they can keep all their materials inside. I am also requesting composition books and pencils so they can practice writing and illustrating stories. I would also like to give them a pencil sharpener and a colorful bag to keep their writing utensils in.

Please help my little learners become independent learners at home!
