This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a class full of 18 busy and fun 4 year olds preparing for Kindergarten by learning and exploring through play. Our Transition to Kindergarten program is designed to provide access to a quality early childhood learning opportunity to children that lack access to preschool.

Our curriculum is designed around studies, these studies focus on real life experiences.

One of our studies is the Building Study. Throughout six weeks students learn all about our neighborhood, features of buildings, different types of buildings, materials and tools used to build and we culminate the week by creating buildings that would represent our town.

For this project I am requesting some magnetic blocks that students could use to create different types of buildings. Also included are some pieces that you can add onto the magnets to represent different features such as doors and windows and pieces that would help create a hospital or police station. In addition, this project would provide some puzzles and toy vehicles that represent the equipment used to build. This real life representation would really help my students understand all the aspects that go into building.
