Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a first year 1st grade teacher in Englewood, Chicago. Most of my students have not had the opportunity to have many books in their homes. We will do multiple Read Alouds per day, but Big Books would make the Read Aloud experience much more useful for my students. Because 1st graders' eyes are still developing, Big Books will make it much easier for them to see the words and pictures to learn not only the stories but also book and print awareness. I currently do not have a single 'Big Book' in my classroom and they are really an absolute necessity for 1st graders. Please buy my students 'Big Books' and help them with their reading and book and print awareness!
