Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are imaginative and fun-loving kids ages 3-5 with autism and many with intellectual disabilities as well. We come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.

They have a dedicated team of educators which includes their families who are trying to make sure they continue to learn and make progress towards their IEP goals despite school closures due to the Coronavirus!

My Project

Many times, my kiddos do not know how to identify their feelings let alone manage them! In times like we are in now, where stress and tension are high, teaching these critical social-emotional skills from a young age are needed even more! These books, toys, and will help me to teach my students about emotions!

"When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."

By reading books together, using manipulatives and visuals, and talking about our feelings, my students will learn how to properly identify their feelings and then choose appropriate ways to help them manage them.
