Little Kids Doing Big Things!

My students need two Dexter Industries Starter Kits to have the chance to construct and program a real functioning robot.

My Students

They have many different faces, different talents and different dreams each day. Two ten year old girls discuss the best placement for battery packs on a robot. They watch as I demonstrate proper use of a hand tool for two seven year old boys who love electronics and wires. Eight year old designers find just the right Lego piece to complete their vision.

My students are experimenters, creators, builders, makers and dreamers.

They are open to possibilities and excited by challenges. They thrive on overcoming obstacles and creative problem solving. We come together at a small elementary school in farm country, but we learn on Mars, in the Arctic Circle, at the bottom of the Mariana's Trench and the top of Everest.

My Project

We are asking for help to purchase two GoPiGo robots for our classes. Our plan is to assemble, program and play soccer with our "Bots." We have used a coding language called scratch to make a cat dance on the computer's screen but we think we are ready to go to the NEXT LEVEL. We want to control REAL ROBOTS. We want to complete challenges and redesign our bots to make them perform even better.

Funding this project will enable us to move from controlling an animated cat on a screen, to controlling a REAL functional robot.

It takes our coding experience from a fun memory to a possible career path. Our students will have jobs that don't even exist today, we can prepare them for that technical world, so they can be the pioneers of the future.
