My Students

I am the Technology Coordinator at a Title I school with a high poverty rate. Our students are military dependents on the island of Oahu. Although our families move every three years, and our students are resilient, many of them are missing basic skills taught in the early years.

I want to inspire my Kindergarten and First Graders to deepen their computer science skills so that they may become productive, contributing citizens in our technological world.

My Project

My Kindergarten and First Grade students need to be exposed to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in order to have a positive impact in the world. By working in small, cooperative groups, they will be able to give commands to the Botley robots and navigate them through mazes. Eventually, they can build their own Mech-5 programmable robots.

The robots will allow them to have fun, be creative, and gain hands-on experiences.

Our little kids can start to learn the fundamentals of coding at an early age and master new language and skills. When we are done using the kits, they can be stored away in the locking bins.
