This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students need hands-on learning. Using hands-on manipulatives like a sand tray and sand will improve their motor and social skills while working on their academics. I used different textures in the class to improve their academics. I will be using them for letters, sounds, and sight word practice.
Learning is fun and doesn't have to be messy!
I hope this will be easier to manage for my students. Right now, I use lunch trays and a box. This often is messy, and it takes a lot of time for my students and me to clean up. The little boxes will keep the sand inside with the lid and help with quicker transitions.
My students need hands-on experience to improve multiple skills. Some have never had the opportunity to play with playdough or use crayons. I try to give my students multiple forms of learning through play. Most of my students come from broken, low-income families. I love to give them the experiences they might have missed.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
