Motivating unmotivated students can be challenging. Teachers are up against high speed, give it to me now kids! Most students use technology everyday in one form or another, exp: cell phones or tablets. Students are more motivated to learn when they are given the opportunity to learn interactively.
Over the last few years my kindergarten class has averaged around 22-25 children.
Kids LOVE technology! My students are no different. They love playing on-line games and receiving fast results. While I try to make my classroom fun and enjoyable, technology usually wins the kids over every time. They love having so many choices when learning.
My Project
We have 70% poverty in our schools. Most children are on free-or-reduced breakfast/lunches. While some students have seen and held technology in their hands, most have only heard about technology from a distance because their parents can't afford tablets. So as the world grows to be more tech savvy, some of these kids struggle to know what to do with technology. My students need 2 mini iPads. Having iPads for my room will create a whole new learning experience for my little students. They will have learning at the touch of their finger tips. It will also give me an opportunity to challenge my students in ways that I didn't dream possible for kindergarten.
By donating, you can help me give my students something that they may otherwise not have a chance to use.
Teaching students about electronics and technology at an early age is just one of the many ways I hope to assure economic success in their future. I want to show them that they can be more than generational poverty, they can be anything they desire.
