Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For Earth Day this year, our school received a generous donation of garden boxes. They have been built and set up on our school grounds providing endless outside learning opportunities. Our children are excited about planting and caring for their very own plants and vegetables. Our teachers are excited about extending our classroom to the outdoors and providing real hands-on lessons for our 1st graders!

With your help, we will be able to provide the garden tools like wheel barrels and watering cans needed for our Little Gardeners to dig in to many, many experiences with the garden boxes. They can plant beautiful flowers to enjoy during recess. They can plant actual vegetables that they get to taste. They can learn the plant cycle from an actual plant instead of video and worksheet!
Your donation will help an entire grade level learn as if it was Earth Day each and every day. Our First Graders will have actual experience of what they can do to make a difference for our planet. Most of our students live in city apartments, they do not have access to gardens, nor do they do not have the resources to create community gardens. Our school can be their community garden.
