This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our young students enjoy being outdoors and have outdoor materials to use. Having multiple outdoor materials and toys offer valuable opportunities for young students to learn through movement and play. These tools help children develop essential gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, and body awareness, which are foundational for overall physical development. Activities like hopping on stepping stones or tossing and catching a ball also build hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness, supporting both physical and cognitive growth.

Beyond motor skills, these outdoor materials encourage cooperation, turn-taking, and problem-solving as children play together and navigate new challenges.

These outdoor materials can foster teamwork and can teach self-regulation and perseverance. Outdoor play also promotes language development, as students describe their actions, follow directions, and engage in imaginative scenarios. With the right supplies, outdoor spaces become powerful learning environments that support the whole child—physically, socially, and academically.
