My classroom is the largest in the school, the library! I see every student from preschool through 5th grade every week for checkout and lessons, with each session lasting forty-five minutes. This time is often devoted to projects which allow students to explore different subjects and content areas.
Our school is an elementary school specializing in environmental science.
For many students, school is the only place they can access technology and other learning materials.
Our student population is inquisitive, and I like to find activities which challenge their minds. They love to explore and find answers, and hands-on exploration is a huge bonus for these students. By finding what sparks their interest, we can work to solidify a love of learning and self motivation for future success.
My Project
What kids don’t love to build things? My students love to build and create, usually using anything they can find. By giving our youngest students opportunities to build with magnetic engineering kits and stand, they will be able to explore and create while learning the science behind gravitational forces.
With this project, our youngest students will be exposed to beginning physics and engineering principles in order to better understand how to create and design structures.
Students will have the opportunity to explore and problem solve while creating simple structures. Allowing my students to freely create gives them an opportunity to explore new ideas for structures. This project allows for failure, which builds critical thinking skills and inspires innovation. Kids have a unique way of viewing the world, so this project ignites the imagination!
