My students need construction materials to engage their wide imaginations.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Give the gift of a science education. Curiosity needs to be fed! Please help my underprivileged students develop their budding minds in scientifically constructive ways.
The kids at our school are brilliant and they deserve excellent educational resources.
Approximately 65% of our students are African American, 29% are Hispanic, and the remaining 5% is made up of Asian (Pakistani, Ethiopian, Filipino) and Anglo American students. Because we are a full Title I school, a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are simply not provided with enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.
My Project
I've included in this proposal a selection of high quality materials that students can use to explore scientific and mathematical concepts.
K'Nex, for example, has won many education awards, including the 2006 Learning Magazine Teachers' Choice Award for Excellence in Classroom Products.
I have one of the K'Nex systems already in my classroom and the children return to it again and again, devising all kinds of new and inventive structures.
One pedagogical goal of mine is to teach my students that problems can be approached from different angles and that for many problems there can be different answers. These materials allow students to explore different solutions to problems through hands-on inquiry.
The Lego materials, for example, ask students to build a variety of structures using levers, pulleys, wheels, gears, and so on.
Simply out, it's learning made fun. All kids should have access to excellent learning materials.
I teach my students that anything is possible if you put forth the best effort.
Your donation will help level the playing field and will give my students the opportunity to excel.
Give the gift of a science education! These materials are a small but important part of it. Your donation will be hugely appreciated!
