I am excited to be providing educational experiences to at-risk four and five year-old children in a free pre-kindergarten classroom. These kiddos are creative, curious, and eager to learn. Many of our students are overcoming odds, as all of our students come from low-income households, and many come from traumatic backgrounds.
We strive to provide opportunities that our at-risk students may not otherwise have, or be able to enjoy.
We are eager to create life-long learners, through thoughtful instruction, and materials, both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
My Project
Our at-risk students LOVE being read to! With only 2 teachers, and 16 children who want to choose a book to read, we could use some help! A listening center will help offer more children the opportunity to have books read to them. We have books that coincide with our curriculum, as well as some of the children's favorite books, on CD. Now, we just need the CD player, headphones, and a storage shelf to make this happen!
Our at-risk students WANT to be read to, and we want to continue their love for books and being read to.
We find this so important, that the listening center already has a 'home' in our classroom. That means that I already have a spot that it will fit perfectly! Thank you for helping us to fill in the listening center space, and for assisting in the continuation of a love for books and reading in our preschool students.
