My Students
The best part of teaching is getting to know your students; to understand what their interests and needs are, where they've been and where they want to go, what they know and what they want to learn. It's endlessly fascinating and rewarding to be granted a peek into your students' hopes and dreams, and to try to help them reach their goals. The goal my students have and wish for is to learn how to read. By the last day of the quarter, if you're lucky, you've developed a classroom "culture" of trust and mutual respect--and it's hard to let go of that. I need reading books that’s on their reading level to make them a success in life.
I am requesting the paperback Dick and Jane reading series.
I was taught how to read from that book and I know this reading series will make them a GREAT success with their reading. If I can get one set of the books I can make my students copies of the stories to teach them. This is so important for me to have them reading on their level or higher.
My Project
Struggling readers are inherently less comfortable with the act of reading than their more fluent peers. Well in my case my students are not fluent readers. I can’t think of a better way to ease some of their discomfort than with a set of Dick and Jane books, which will help me create a comfortable and warm reading environment.
I am trying to find a reading resource my students will be comfortable with and be willing to work towards their goal.
I hope you understand how important this is to my students, parents and me. Success is the key for them.
