My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds, both socioeconomic and ethnic. They live in a smaller city in the south central part of the U.S. They are 7 and 8 years old. In 2nd grade, students work hard to become independent and more responsible classroom and school citizens. We study all core subjects in my classroom, in addition to art and community building activities. Needless to say, we will become a family and will feel that our classroom is a home away from home during our year together.

My Project

STEM is an important component in my classroom. My young learners are benefiting greatly from experiencing a vast variety of STEM activities. It's evident that STEM helps a child increase their confidence, imagination, creativity, and problem solving abilities by building and creating.

STEM is a great time for experimenting and learning by doing.

Students learn from their mistakes and try new ideas. They use their imagination to increase their confidence, and it gives them a feeling of success and accomplishment. STEM is an important part of my regular education classroom.

The use of these STEM centers will provide a day full of various activities centered around STEM, not only during science, but for Morning Tubs, Math, and Free Friday.
