My Students
I always ask my students what they want to be when they grow up and they respond with careers like, "Engineers!" "Scientists!" Students from culturally diverse communities are vastly underrepresented in the fields of S.T.E.M. My goal is to foster my student's science and engineering talent.
My students are identified and Gifted and Talented by the Department of Education.
Our Gifted and Talented program has been recently established so I am eager to integrate S.T.E.M. into the program. My students are curious problem solvers who use wooden blocks to create bridges, tunnels and tall skyscrapers. My students are in the dimensions of underrepresented minorities’ who lack the exposure to S.T.E.M. using the latest technology. My students and my school are a tight-knit community of future leaders.
My Project
My students would become a part of the Global Community is Little Bits were a resource in my classroom. Little Bits is a 21st-century learning tool at the intersection of STEM/STEAM and the Maker Movement. Little Bits is very user friendly and will support exploration, experimentation and creativity. In my classroom, we will be building and designing circuits using a hands-on-approach and real world application with Snap Circuits SC-300 Electronics Discovery Kits.
Little Bits technology would greatly improve the opportunity to increase the the success of underrepresented minority participation in S.T.E.M.
education. If my project is funded, my students will have great capacity to learn and create in areas of STEM. LittleBits will allow my students to synthesize their knowledge while creating remarkable projects and learning every step of the way.
