This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember doing art in elementary school? I want my students to have the same wonderful memories of creating art.

I teach 22 fabulous first graders in the California bay area.

I teach at a high poverty school in a rough neighborhood. Almost all of my students are also learning English as a second language. These students have a lot of troubles, but they don't let that stop them. My students are excited about school and excited about learning.

My Project

I am requesting perler beads and pegboards to create bead crafts. Students will have to plan out and draw their design. Then, they will have to carefully lay out their beads on the pegboard. They will love seeing their plan come to life! When they are done, I will iron it and their wonderful creation will become permanent. My students will use the clay to learn to sculpt. Again, they will have to design and draw their idea before they begin to sculpt. Doing these designs will help them learn how to think, plan and solve problems in all academic areas.
